Multifaceted American composer and Mack Avenue artist Emmet Cohen is one of his generation's most pivotal figures in music. An internationally acclaimed jazz pianist and dedicated music educator, Cohen is the winner of the 2019 American Pianists Award, the Cole Porter Fellow of the American Pianists Association, and was a finalist in the 2011 Thelonious Monk International Piano Competition. During the lockdown, he created "Live From Emmet's Place," a weekly livestream that received millions of internet views worldwide. He has collaborated with Ron Carter, Benny Golson, Jimmy Cobb, George Coleman, Jimmy Heath, Tootie Heath, Houston Person, Christian McBride, Kurt Elling, Billy Hart, Herlin Riley, and Lea DeLaria. The Emmet Cohen Trio last played in Victoria in 2022, in a performance that left audiences stunned and wanting more. Now, they return to Victoria, touring Cohen’s latest 2022 album, Uptown in Orbit.
